Ok so it seems I'll have to do that too.
I'll keep it simple : read the title.
I've been doing a bit of nude photography these last months and even though the vast majority of the people who visited, faved and commented my photos were totally fine, there's always a small fraction of weirdos/perverts/wathever and that really pisses me off.

I'll say that once : nude/erotic photography is not porn and models are not objects (and that also applies for porn models by the way) !
so everyone have to BEHAVE PROPERLY and RESPECT THE MODELS

you can act as a dickhead with me, attack me, critique me, send me weird messages, BUT... one more time... Don't touch the models.

If you want to write some kind of pervert comment, keep in mind that nor the model, nor the photographer, nor even the people who truly appreciate the photo will like your comment.

You want porn ? Fine. There are plenty of website for that on the net, or even photo galleries here on dA that are more about porn than about nude. Use them.
If you're not able to understand that "nude model" does not mean "slut", don't even waste your time on my photos.

From now on, any kind of indecent comment/behavior will be immediately reported to dA staff.

Oh, and still thanks a lot to all of you (the vast majority) who take my photos the good way, comment appropriately and understand how to enjoy these pics without anoying anyone with any sexual related bullshit. You guys and girls rock ;)

I agree and understand and wish artists didn't have to worry about this.

I see this posted on way too many DA sites.

So sad it has to be stated so often - there should be an IQ test before posting comments...

I believe there are a lot of very bitter men out there that are angry that beautiful women exist. They can't take their anger out in public because they would get in serious trouble, so they take their anger out here.

These men aren't interested in art, they just want to try to make people as angry at the world as they are. I'm guessing they don't REALLY even want to see beautiful women, but they know there are pictures of VERY beautiful women here, so they create an empty account and sadistically insult women until they are kicked off. They spend all day, every day, thinking of the cruelest things they can say and they say them here.

They enjoy watching people get angry about their comments, which is why they make them. They are very disturbed people and the quicker they are kicked off the site, the better for everyone (including them).

The vast majority of people (including me) want to be liked and to be nice to other people. This is normal. These men WANT to be despised. When a comment sounds mean, it IS mean! Normal people know the difference between nice and mean, and even these guys do - they just choose to be mean. A nice person might say something slightly inappropriate, but they will apologize immediately - even if they think it was harmless. Why? Because they want to be nice people. Trolls are easy to spot. They debate the difference between nudity and porn when that is not the issue. Everyone knows that debate has been unresolved for at least 100 years and it won't be resolved in a thread about abusive comments. This site is about ART! Everything in it is ART. Period. If someone has an issue with an image, bring it up with an administrator, otherwise be considered a troll.

Respectfully, I beg to differ, Porn is subjective to the beholder. The sight of nude models arouses the sense and thus for many is in fact their porn. That being said, Even porn stars like being treated as people rather than objects. How much more, an aspiring nude model. In this world of cruel irony, treating a woman with respect won't get you laid (at least not in the US) But to me my integrity is more important.

I see what you mean and I agree, but I don't know how to say exactly what I mean in english.
It's more that these photos aren't intended to be wank material and that models absolutely do not want to know if a viewer uses them this way.
A porn model know very well what the photos she (or he) poses in are intended for, which is not the case for "regular" nude models (The word "regular" doesn't mean anything here but you see what I mean)
So people may consider that my photos are porn and "use" them this way, I can't stop them (and don't want to anyway) but they have to keep it for themselves, because the models find this really disturbing ;)

Well said.  I was just commenting on a different thread about how difficult it is to respond to some comments that are crude.

I would like to think the best of people, but reading your post makes me think that I really need to take the opportunity as a teaching moment to make sure that they understand how things are, how women like to be treated, and that we'll all be the better off for it.

Keep up the good work.

Artistic nude/artistic erotica is very different from pornography. Artistic nude glorifies the human body form whereas pornography objectifies them. For those people who doesn't, and won't even try to, understand the differences I have two words for you: fuck off.

I cannot support this enough! It's always been a peeve of mine the comments and attitudes that in any way degrade or attempt to put down the model. I consider myself a learning photographer, continually trying to improve and refine. Constructive criticism towards my work is one thing. Negative comments regarding the model is something else all together. I have some very good and very beautiful models who I also look upon as friends. And I am protective of them. So far I have been lucky and have yet to see this problem on my page. But I've already had a lot of reservation about sharing these images as it is out of concern for the wellbeing of my models after seeing what has been said on other pages.

Like I said, I am learning. I appreciate the art and would also appreciate greatly pointers and suggestions on how I may get better. That only happens when images are put out there to be seen and shared. Selfish perverted and childish comments is one way to cause a lot of very good art to be withheld. The photographers don't want to deal with it and the models don't deserve it. That is sad.

Very good work by the way, congrats on a job well done.

In fact, the quantity of positive feedback both I and my models get is far higher than the disrespectful comments we get sometimes, so it's really worth sharing ;)

I'm right there with you. That's one of the main reasons I do what I do; to promote beauty and educate people on the different between art, erotic art, fetish art and porn, though I think the porn industry could use a bit of work in raising it's standards and creating respectful material too.

I believe that there's nothing wrong with mature art, even sex and showcasing sexual activities in an artistic and respectful way. May therapists promote watching adult videos to "get the juices flowing" in a relationship. I do however dislike any degrading material of any kind, and think that mutual respect and maturity should be at the core of any such endeavors. I have even thought of making movies, Hollywood style with real in-depth story lines, with artistic and respectful love scenes; in order to demonstrate the difference and use it to start a movement to raise standards.

Thanks for taking a stand for quality professional work and respect, though I think you should be respected as well as the models.

This happened to me as well. I was compared to food saying I looked delicious as if I were an edible morsel for men to feast upon. Then I was compared to a car stating that I looked like I handled well and they wanted to drive me. I then told them they were being sexist and objectifying my body. Women are not objects, machinery, toys, etc for men to use. We are people and deserve respect. If they can't see the art and only think perverted thoughts, they should have the common decency to not say anything.

Peoples with no education or artistic background or just no good taste in life will find it porn. I for example, draw live models. The other day i was at the public library studying anatomy and sketching when a dude peek over my shoulder and said: Ahhh your drawing porn… Hell, it was academical nude study…I mean, you can't have more basic than that!
So if a guy look at academical nude drawing and see porn, of course some weirdos, when looking at your photos (beautiful by the way) will se porn!
It's all about education and respect i think...

Thank you very much !

Judging whether a photo/drawing etc. is porn or not depends mainly on education and artistic background yes. And avoinding to harass models with stupid comments is just common sense and as you say, respect... That's what drives me nuts in fact... If people consider my photos to be porn, I can't prevent that and after all and as long as they keep that for themselves that's hardly a problem. But some of them just can't understand how unpleasant it is for a model to be talked to like an object (and I suppose porn models wouldn't appreciate it that much either)... Those guys would never talk that way to a person they cross in the street (hopefully !) and they need to understand that models really don't like to be considered as sexual objects...

Agreed, there is no excuse for disrespect. Models are in a vulnerable position, in a way. It's
the basic common sense to respect that vulnerability and protect it.

I cannot understand why anyone would not show respect - and thanks - to the models.  They are giving their beauty to the viewers of these images - a collaboration between model and photographer.

Thank you, Simon, and thanks to Lucie :iconluxlucie: for the wonderful collaboration - Breeze.

I think (as a male) the "nude art" affects me differently than even a swimsuit issue. A swimsuit issue will arouse me more than a lot of the "nude art" here. There's a whole ritual behind the different genres of photography - I do know that. And they truly capture the moment in what the photographers take shots of.  It's really powerful stuff.

"I'll say that once : NUDE/EROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY IS NOT PORN!"

Actually it kinda is... Or more accurately, Porn is in fact made up of NUDE/EROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY. Its just that something being NUDE/EROTIC PHOTOGRAPHY does not by definition make it porn.

Kind of like how all thumbs are fingers, but all fingers are not thumbs.

Funny you should mention the intention thing, because there is no defined difference between art & porn... Oh sure we can all point to images with a low technical standard & say "this is not art", but each person has there own subjective point along the art/smut scale in which they will say "this is now porn."

An intention of the artist rarely plays a role in that: Take the work of an artist like David Hamilton for instance.

Hmmmmm, a funny topic to contemplate.

I don't think "art" and "porn" have to be cited as opposites, as I consider that porn can be art.

I mention the intention since someone said "to me, your images are porn, wheter you want it or not". While I'm personnaly not that much disturbed by such a statement, but it makes the models very uncomfortable, since they are on the pictures and they are the ones who are looked at.

so yeah, I know it won't change the way anyone looks at my photos but at least I hope people will understand that my models aren't porn actress and that porn related comments associated to their images make them uncomfortable, that's all, I'm not trying to redefine porn or anything like that ;)
